Normally I wouldn’t use my monthly Prime borrow on a novelette, but as I have loved every installment in the Markham Hall series and really didn’t have the time to read a full-length novel, I “splurged” and borrowed The Reclaiming of Ivy Leavold. First thing you should know is that you absolutely should not read this book without reading the previous three installments. In order to get the full effect of this novelette and appreciate just how much story Ms. Simone has managed to put into 36 pages, you need to know who Ivy and Julian are and what they have overcome to get to this point. So if you haven’t read books one through three, stop now and rectify that oversight.
For fans of the series, The Reclaiming of Ivy Leavold is an absolute must-read as it is exactly what the title suggests. Picking up after the birth of their child, we find that Ivy has thrown herself fully into motherhood…to the point of losing the wildcat that Julian loved so much. Acting as a new father grateful to the mother of his child rather than as the Mr. Markham who held us enthralled over the course of the series, Julian is handling Ivy with kid gloves. This seems to be making the situation worse as the divide between them grows with each day and it was disturbing to witness two people who have been so strong, assertive, and self-assured continue to flounder. Because of that, seeing Mr. Markham emerge and take control of Ivy was both a relief and reading aphrodisiac. Witnessing Mr. Markham coax his wildcat back out and riling her up to the point that I half expected her to knock him down and take her pleasure from him was perfection for this couple. Simone did an excellent job in keeping her characters true to themselves…once they found themselves again and I loved it. I plan to buy The Markham Hall Series Bundle as soon as I have time to read it in its entirety so that I can experience the journey through Markham Hall again.
I borrowed this book via the Kindle Owner’s Lending Library (and have purchased the bundle since initially writing this review).

A deeply erotic love story

Couldn't put these books down....not until I'd devoured every word to the very last. Intense shades of light and dark that sent me through every emotion; laughter, tears, anguish, dread, anger, rage, lust and longing.....and finally love. Yes, I fell in love with Ivy, Julian, and Silas of course. Thankyou Sierra Simone. Please write more....more of everything, more of this

Ivy Leavold has just lost her brother and is destitute. This is how she ends up at Markham Hall, home of her deceased cousin's widower. He is all the family she thinks she has left. With no other options except to go to work as a Governess, she accepts his protection.
Those of you who have read Jane Eyre will be just at home with this book, with one tiny, itsy-bitsy difference... This book is Erotica with a superb plotline.
Julian Markham is the most gorgeous creature Ivy has ever seen. He is dominant, virile and full of power oozing out of every pore. Having just lost his wife a month before, he is intractable at times and very moody. Or so Ivy thought. He is a man of mystery, secrets, and lustful desires like you have never imagined before. He has been married twice already and both wives ended up dead within a short time of marrying him. Are we dealing with a "blue-beard" character here?
Ivy is so independent she will not let her situation cage her like a bird. She must find out why her cousin dies such an untimely death. She must also find out more about Julian. She is like a moth to the fire. The attraction is so strong... well, be prepared to hang a "Do Not Disturb" sign around your neck. You will not want to put this series down!
