An effective resource for the Ayurvedic student. However, if you are not an Ayurvedic student, beware.This might be good if you are going to pay a practitioner for PK and want an overview of what you are getting yourself into. Ayurveda is very complex and this guide will not help you do PK on your own without a qualified practitioner. For a practitioner/student myself, I was able to consider his insight while doing my home pancha karma.

This book is a godsend for those with chronic and autoimmune diseases who have given up on mainstream medicine, and are trying to figure out how to heal pretty much on their own. Amazing that this 5,000 year old wisdom is so superior to what is being offered by modern medicine. Mostly you just hear about the cutesy spa and beauty treatments kind of ayurveda, to which i never paid much attention. What a revelation to learn about pancha karma and the very serious and effective side of ayurveda.

I'm controlling others. I never knew.

I literally have lost count of the number of copies of this book I have purchased for friends in need. Watching them come to an awareness of how the game of control is played opens their eyes and helps them stand firm and assert their needs in a respectful way. I love the catalog of control behaviors - it takes things that subconsciously bug you and makes them things you become acutely aware of. I also realized to my own surprise that I'm just as guilty of controlling behaviors and this book has helped open my eyes.

The book is concise, positive, and easily affordable. If you want it and can't afford a copy, heck, I'll buy you a kindle copy if you promise to read it. Just give me a reply.

About the Author
Minoru Taya has been a Professor of Mechanical Engineering, and Adjunct Professor of Materials Science and Engineering at the University of Washington since 1986. He is also currently running a Center for Intelligent Materials and Systems (CIMS) as Director, where he is involved in supervising a number of projects related to intelligent materials and systems. He is a Fellow of the American Academy of Mechanics (ASME) and also serves as an associate editor and editorial board member for several journals. He has served as the Chair of the Materials Divison of ASME in the past. Professor Taya has published over 235 journal and conference papers, co-authored a monograph and edited five books.

Fantastic info - clear and detailed. Good diagrams.

I've been working on cars and bikes for a long time, and am fairly knowledgeable. I thought I had a pretty good handle on automotive and motorcycle electrical systems.

I just found out how much I didn't know.

Tracy Martin's section on how resistance figures into the electrical picture was enlightening. Explaining exactly why the ohm-meter on your multimeter is mostly useless while working on a bike is great. His discussion of voltage drop testing gave me new testing routines, using just a simple meter.

He uses diagrams to help clarify his explanations. They are simple, but effective.

Yep - he likes high dollar tools (Fluke meters, for example) but he sounds less like an infomercial than many other DIY books.

I got the book as a Christmas gift, and had read about half of it. Today my truck failed to start (wouldn't turn over). Using his techniques, I chased down the problem to a corroded terminal on the starter. I didn't make a trip to the parts store, tow it to a mechanic, or start replacing things to see what might work.

This is good stuff.

I really enjoyed reading this book. If you have some wiring work to do, and you don't know where to begin, begin here. While getting frustrated looking for free information online, I kept running into ads for this book. I worked as an Electronic Technician for 3.5 years, I received professional training in electronics, but this book takes a look at areas I was not trained in: high power, low voltage circuits, and how to troubleshoot them. It not only gives a great introduction to electricity, and some electronics, but it provides the hands-on knowledge, techniques, and tools, to troubleshoot, and repair virtually any bike, any year. The author even instructs the reader on how to make some needed tools, for very little money, along with discussions on tools you will want to purchase (no need to buy expensive tools!). Very impressed, all around. Cheers!
