When I ordered this book I was expecting a paper back book; however, the hard back was a nice surprise. I expected the book to arrive weeks before it did but I had a borrowed copy that held me over until it came. The late arrival made it difficult to prepare for class though.

About the Author

PAUL IGANSKI, Ph.D. is Professor of Criminology and Criminal Justice in the Lancaster University Law School, UK, and a member of the ESRC Centre for Corpus Approaches to Social Science at Lancaster. For a decade-and-a-half he has specialized in research, writing, teaching, and public engagement about hate crime. His books include Hate Crime and the City, Hate Crimes Against London’s Jews, and the edited volumes Hate Crime: The Consequences of Hate Crime, and The Hate Debate. He mostly conducts his research in collaboration with, or commissioned by, NGOs and the equalities sector in the UK and internationally. At Lancaster University he teaches courses on criminological perspectives on violence, and hate crime, human rights and the State.

JACK LEVIN, Ph.D. is an Emeritus Professor of Sociology and Criminology and Co-director of the Brudnick Center on Violence and Conflict at Northeastern University, where he teaches courses in the sociology of violence and hate. Levin has authored or co-authored more than 30 books, including Why We Hate, Hate Crimes: The Rising Tide of Bigotry and Bloodshed, and The Violence of Hate. Dr Levin was honored by the Massachusetts Council for Advancement and Support of Education as its "Professor of the Year" and by the American Sociological Association for his contributions to the public understanding of sociology. He has also received awards from the Eastern Sociological Society, Association of Clinical and Applied Sociology, and Society for the Study of Social Problems.

David Kelly was formerly Principal Lecturer in Law at Staffordshire University and is the author of the best-selling textbook, The English Legal System with Gary Slapper.

This Book is about English Business Law

My 3-star rating is not a substantive rating of the book. The book itself may be excellent. My rating is based upon the fact that it is very difficult for the potential buyer to learn that the book covers English law, not American law. While American law is based upon the English common law tradition, there are sufficient differences that it is important for American readers to be aware of the scope of this book before they buy it. (I am an American attorney.)

At first I was disappointed she reading+expecting more combat action but it came later & was very intense, I would definitely recommend this book!

Great read, troubling situation

The book itself is outstanding. It's really good to read about these brave soldiers and what they had to go through. In my opinion, their company but, primarily battalion commanders (and their commanders) were responsible for the casualties sustained during these operations. They were ill-advised and the soldiers were not properly outfitted to perform their jobs. From insufficient quantities of cleaning and lubricating oils for weapons (that blows my mind) to malfunctioning weapon systems. Predictable patterns in operations which lead to ambushes, probably to create contacts to appease higher ups. Short of equipment and soldiers, in an impossible situation all because the "rest of the Army" was in Iraq. The most powerful nation on Earth, supposedly, was unable to provide more than one infantry battalion and one small helicopter brigade for an entire campaign. Unbelievable.

Excellent book, easy to read and helpful

The book followes this path. Each chapter starts out with a quote from the Bible. Then, a story of a tragedy. (All these stories are true). Then, a way of dealing with the event from the Christian point of view. The point of view of the biblical quote she started out with. It becomes a kind of self defense book. Things you can remember to do when these things hit you and me. It lets you have some experience before you go through it in the real world, from an auther who has the education and background to write about such thngs.
