VERY Strategic Book!

This book is tremendously strategic. The Seven Mountain strategy will help readers change our culture. It will not take multitudes of people to shift our nation - but it will take strategic intercession. When you read this book, not only when you understand what the Seven Mountains are - but you will learn how to pray for each mountain. I can not wait to see how the nations change as the result of this strategy. I am so excited about this book. Tommi is a woman of high character and she lives what she is teaching. This book will change the nations! You MUST read it and then you MUST pray.

This book outlines how Christians should invade the earth with prayer and in the seven mountains.

Family, Religion, Government, Business, Education, Arts and Entertainment, and Media are the seven areas that the Kingdom will reclaim.

Those who are prayer warriors/intercessors will understand how to pray for those going into each of the 7 mountains. The kingdom of God that invades the Seven Mountains can do it will intercessors who understand.

A RATHER “STEAMY” ACCOUNT OF RESNICK’S FRIENDSHIP WITH NICOLE AND SIMPSON

Author Faye Resnick wrote in the Foreword to this 1994 book, “I will, with all the accuracy and all the honesty I can muster, write about the events that led up to this awful crime. In doing this, I know I must be unflinchingly truthful about myself. Writing this book has been painful… But to tell Nicole’s story honestly, I must also tell you mine. Some of what I say can never be corroborated… But on all that I hold sacred, I promise you the truth. I know that powerful allies of O.J. Simpson will do everything in their power to discredit me… This book is dedicated to the most wonderful friend I have ever known, and to women everywhere who are trapped n corrosive and humiliating relationships like the one Nicole did not survive… Nicole, you have no one to speak for you. Let me try…”

She begins the second chapter with the statement, “One of my most vivid memories… is the night I saw the other side of O.J.’s happy, smiling face. When I tell you about the last times I saw that face, you’ll know why I believe O.J. killed my best friend.” (Pg. 7)

Of the funeral, she says, “I sat down next to O.J. … I said to him, ‘O.J., what happened?’ He never moved, but again I saw the jaw muscles clenching… Then words that are seared into my memory forever spilled out like an unbidden cry.’ ‘Girl… you---out of all of them---know that I loved her too much.’ I was stunned.” (Pg. 25)

She says, “Talking about that awful night with Keith in 1992, Nicole said, ‘When I told O.J. he had no business interfering with my life, he turned it around and said he was concerned that our kids, who were upstairs sleeping, could wake up and walk downstairs. He said it was the wrong thing to be having sex with the kids in the house.’” (Pg. 49)

Resnick admits, “I have been in the Betty Ford Clinic twice and the Exodus Recovery Center once over an eight-year period for cocaine addiction. I honestly believed that I had beaten it after my second Betty Ford trip, but the pressure of watching Nicole’s tragedy weakened me. That is not an excuse; it’s just an opinion.” (Pg. 59)

She suggests, “To understand why O.J. was so compulsively attracted to Nicole, you’d have to understand his mind-set. O.J. seemed to hate being black and… avoided any real contact with the black community… Marguerite was probably the last black woman O.J. would ever be with… Nicole was not the first white woman in O.J.’s life, nor was she the last. Before they met, O.J. had made it a point to be seen with as many beautiful women as possible---and it was generally understood that only whites need apply. His flirtations and affairs while he was married to Nicole, as well as during their separation, invariably were with women who… definitely were a lighter shade of pale.” (Pg. 88-89)

After Simpson joked about the fact that “my wife’s biggest fear in life is frogs, and I’ve just ended up starring in a TV series called ‘The Frogmen’!,” she notes, “Two minutes later, O.J. got up and left… [Nicole] turned to me and said, ‘I don’t think that’s funny… It’s cruel. I’m afraid this man will kill me some day.’ It was one of those shocking statements that are so unbelievable you wonder if you heard right.” (Pg. 143-144) Of the next day, she says, “I will never forget the look on her face when she repeated her astounding statement of the day before. ‘I feel that if we get back together, he’ll end up killing me. I don’t think he’s changed.’” (Pg. 145)

Of the infamous incident in 1989, she recounts Nicole telling her, “Faye, that was the worst night of my life. For hours, I don’t know how long, O.J. would watch TV, then he’d come back, open the closet door, hit me some more, then lock me up again. I was so scared. I wanted to die… I don’t know what was worse, the beatings or that awful FEAR of waiting for him to come back and do it again.” (Pg. 148-149)

Later, she continues speaking for Nicole, “If I’m with him, and I complain about his women, he’s going to beat me. And maybe someday he’ll beat me to death… So that’s my choice, Faye. I think he’ll kill me if I stay with him, so if he’s going to kill me because I’m leaving, I may as well face it now.” (Pg. 171-172)

She says that Simpson later told her, “If she’s with another man, I’ll kill her. You tell her she’d better play her role and look like my wife until August. Stay away from any man until August. You tell her that, Faye!” (Pg. 175)

She also asserts, “we were sipping our cappuccino with a bunch of the Starbucks boys… Nicole had a crush on one of them… His name was Ron Goldman, and the first time I saw him I told Nicole, ‘… he’s absolutely gorgeous!’ Nicole was pleased to hear my judgment. But looking back on it, I feel a lot of guilt… it’s just something that will bother me forever. Let me answer the burning question, once and for all: Nicole and Ron Goldman were not lovers… What is true is that, inevitably, Nicole was going to ‘do’ Ron. It was something that was going to happen. But Nicole was in no rush.” (Pg. 185-186)

She also purports to report a single sexual relationship she had with Nicole: “No, it never happened again. The only discussion Nicole and I ever had was to acknowledge how inevitable it had seemed.” (Pg. 197-199) She adds, “The night Nicole and I were together was unique. We had both been disillusioned and deeply hurt by men and had lost trust in everything but each other. We needed the warmth, closeness, and safety of each other’s arms. However, let me make it clear that neither Nicole nor I were or ever could be [lesbian].” (Pg. 202)

It’s difficult to believe many parts of Resnick’s book. [Why would she not make more an effort to help her “best friend” get out of an abusive relationship like this one?] But “caveat emptor”…

This book is both a simplified account of frontier orbital theory and a review of its applications in organic chemistry; it provides a basic introduction to the subject and a wealth of illustrative examples. Frontier orbital theory looks at how the transition state of an organic reaction is affected by the interaction of the molecular orbitals of the starting materials. It thus complements the more familiar thermodynamic picture of transition states, in which product-like character is seen as influencing the ease and the course of reactions. The theory is presented very simply, without mathematics, stressing physical principles and assuming only that the reader is familiar with the concept of a molecular orbital as a linear combination of atomic orbitals. This book thus makes frontier orbital theory accessible for the first time to readers at every level. About the Author
IAN FLEMINGstudied in Cambridge, obtaining his BA in 1959 and PhD (with Dr J Harley-Mason) in 1962. He spent one year at Harvard University (with Professor RB Woodward) before returning to Cambridge, where he is now an Assistant Director of Research and a Fellow of Pembroke College. He was a Visiting Professor at McGill University in 1972. His research interests centre on synthetic organic chemistry and on understanding the mechanisms of chemical reactions.

Excellent and in depth

For any chemistry major I cannot recommend this book enough. It is one of the musts to really understanding organic chemistry... and compared to the textbooks the exercises are... dare I say fun?

Even better than Moonraker

Fleming's science and mathematical texts are top-notch. My first exposure to his work was when I was given a copy of "Casino Royale," a book on casino probabilities and card-counting. While it was a little out of my field, learning about systems like High-Low as well as Effect of Removal definitely improved my understanding of on-the-fly statistical projections. A few years later, I read Moonraker for a course on orbital ballistics - this was much more my speed, and I learned a great deal about hyperbolic and parabolic trajectories. More recently, I read (mostly for recreational purposes) "Chitty Chitty Bang Bang," which, while aimed at a juvenile audience, still greatly enhanced my knowledge of internal combustion engines - hey, I'm a rocket surgeon, not a mechanical engineer. His most recent text, "Frontier Orbitals and Organic Chemical Reactions," while less imaginatively-named than his earlier works, still facilitated my understanding of peroxide-based liquid fuels and how to correctly predict outer-shell orbital interactions as well as electron pushing for that murky area between the organic and inorganic fields of chemistry, oxidation.

Highly recommended.

The book�discusses how British innovations in irrigation in coastal Andhra in the mid-nineteenth century transformed the economy there from food crops to cash crops, and created new markets for local entrepreneurs. This stimulated increased education and social reform in the region, which in turn supported new politics in search of constitutional concessions. The drive for a Telugu language-based province then arose in concert, and those political resources were then used to determine local patterns down to independence. The 1930s ruse of the socialists, then the communist organisations, was an extension of land and water tax debates, which impacted�the political nature of development ― both before and after ― independence.

This is one of the first books on Andhra that recounts this story and is based on extensive archival research exploring the deep relationships between land, water, language and politics. It would be of primary interest to those studying modern nationalism in India, natural resource management, Indian politics and economic growth.

Have two hundred years of capitalism brought us freedom? Or just more inequality than has ever been experienced by humans on earth? Global capitalism is not human destiny, it merely is. To think beyond it, with the help of Adamczak's primer, is to take a first step toward freedom, at least the freedom to imagine other worlds.

Interesting Format, Somewhat Honest, Maddeningly Vague

This is not a new book; it was originally released in 2004. Nor is it intended for children. The publisher admits that his assumption that nobody would believe MIT Press would release a book for children was miscalculated. Judging by the reviews, very few have bothered to even read it.

This begs the question, how good is the book? In a word, interesting.

The first half reads very much like a children’s book and in fact could probably be used with adolescents. The second half dives in more deeply and brings out the more advanced concepts. One thing which very few political ideologues bother with, but Adamczak does fairly well, is admit the failures of similar theories as well as the shortcomings of her own suggestions. Although to be fair, these shortcomings are almost presented as positive aspects.

Communism for Kids can basically be described as an anti-capitalist narrative. Why precisely capitalism is so evil is never really described. The best we can glean is that it demeans the workers and makes us slaves to “things.” She eventually just leaves the details up to us. “The hope is that the absurdity and unnecessary brutality of capitalist society will leap out to the people of future generations, the same way that the binary gender system or flatness of the earth seems crazy to us today.”

Similarly, she remains pretty vague about communism. “Communism names the society that gets rid of all the evils people suffer today in our society under capitalism.” Or, “Since true communism has never existed in the entire history of humankind, no one has any clue what it looks like.” She even goes into the paradox of being unable to describe her utopia because it would limit its ability to negate a constantly changing present.

Despite the annoying vagueness of her general concepts, she seems to have a fairly good grasp of economics (though I presume she doesn’t quite realize it). Poking at Smith’s often-abused invisible hand, Adamczak uses a Ouija board as an analogy for society under capitalism. “The glass moves only because people act together rather than separately. But they don’t even notice they are cooperating. … The glass didn’t move because of an invisible hand but rather because we cooperated together.” What she fails to realize is that the invisible hand was Adam Smith’s version of the Ouija board. That is, the invisible hand is the effect of cooperative efforts—or the summed effects—of society.

Interestingly, she lists five “trials” of communist effort and explains how and why they went wrong. This list culminates in the sixth and final utopia. First was redistribution of wealth, but this didn’t address factory working. Second was cooperative factories, but it didn’t address the market itself. The third trial was essentially a command economy. Later in the book she briefly mentions the massive amounts of suffering and death at the hands of authoritarianism, but leaves it here to mere “exhausting and boring [work] as it was before, under capitalism.” Fourth is a robot utopia completely disconnected from reality. And finally, the fifth trial destroys everything relating to capitalism leaving them in a subsistence society. “No, no, no. This isn’t communism,” the story goes.

What is the proper enactment of communism according to Adamczak? Utopia of some sort. “From now on, there shouldn’t be iron-making people or movie-ticket makers anymore. There shouldn’t be pistol people or writing people. Instead of factory people, let there be people factories, and instead of machine people, let there be cyborgs! And nobody should work in a single factory anymore. Everyone should be able to do everything and live everywhere.” As I said, pretty vague.

In sum, capitalism is bad, communism is good.

As an (anarcho-)communist, I bought this book for my 9-year-old to introduce him to the idea of communism, since capitalism is already ubiquitous in almost every aspect of our lives.

This was quite a disappointment. The chapters are brief and spend the bulk of their word count bogged down in heavy analogy and not focusing on making cogent arguments that will appeal to young minds. The book seems thrown together by people who probably didn't care all that much about the project.

Pass on this one.

I accidentally bought this book for my child, innocently thinking it would teach her about the evils of communism.

Next thing I know, she's coming home from school wearing a black beret, drinking a vodka-filled juice box, and smoking a Cuban cigar. Okay, fine, I think; it's just a fashion statement, just a phase.

Then, she starts inviting all of her friends over to our house, where they hold meetings to discuss "what is to be done?" in regards to "the adult problem."

So far, it's all just talk, no big deal—but then they start raiding my fridge for snacks, calling it "reappropriation."

Now, fast forward two weeks: they've raised a red flag over the playground, which they've commandeered as their headquarters; they're patrolling the streets in their Power Wheels, brandishing Nerf Guns and Super Soakers; and they're rounding up all of the adults for a "re-education camp"

I've barricaded myself in my basement to evade their tightening grasp. They're banging on the door as I type.

I'm giving this book five stars in the hope that it will sell really well, and the author will thereby see the light, embrace capitalism, and cease publishing this book as a result. In the meantime, I urge you not to make the same mistake I made.
