This book contains 41 superb articles, convering a variety of areas from neurobiology to language and cognition. It is a very good book for those wanting a quick introduction to this field. Recommended Guide to Embracing Teamwork in the Creative Workplace

Teamwork is always a challenge--especially in artistic endeavors. In Designing Together, Brown addresses the central issue of working as a team within the design community and stresses the importance of achieving results and resolving differences. Brown acknowledges that disagreements within creative work are inevitable and actually aren't even unwanted or to be avoided. Instead, he explains how to channel conflicting ideas and focus on the results instead of differences within the team. This book avoids relying on clich�s and instead delivers insights with much clarity. I'm excited to implement ideas from Designing Together to reduce group related stress at my business and harmonize conflict with those I'm working with to better achieve our goals.

Absolutely Stunning Accomplishment

In the last few years, very many UX books have been written that are funny, well written, and helpful. This one still manages to rise above the amazing books that have come out. It's superbly written: absolutely brilliant prose that is amazing to read. Dan Brown has put together information that will likely save countless design teams their sanity, lead them to producing brilliant designs, and learn about themselves as people who can grown and become better. Precisely how he's put together this information is inspiring: well done, Mr. Brown! Seriously: this may be one of the absolute best UX and design books ever released, and it's almost worth buying several copies to hand out to your team.

Great book- surprising truths

This is a great book, and goes a long way to helping to understand the conflict inherent in design. Another review said that this book was analytical and dry which is true- but it is so chock full of practical advice and insights that if it was made more anecdotal it would be 800 pages long. My only problem is that I haven't been able to get through the entire book because I have to set it down every couple pages to digest the simple and kind of mind bowing truths that are extolled. wish this was an audiobook so that I could listen while I multi-task.

About the Author

Scott Empson is the chair of the Bachelor of Applied Information Systems Technology degree program at the Northern Alberta Institute of Technology in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada, where he teaches Cisco routing, switching, network design, and leadership courses in a variety of different programs (certificate, diploma, and applied degree) at the postsecondary level. Scott is also the program coordinator of the Cisco Networking Academy Program at NAIT, an area support center for the province of Alberta. He has a Masters of Education degree along with three undergraduate degrees: a Bachelor of Arts, with a major in English; a Bachelor of Education, again with a major in English/Language Arts; and a Bachelor of Applied Information Systems Technology, with a major in Network Management. He currently holds several industry certifications, including CCNP, CCDP, CCAI, CEH, and Network+. Before instructing at NAIT, he was a junior/senior high school English/Language Arts/Computer Science teacher at different schools throughout Northern Alberta. Scott lives in Edmonton, Alberta, with his wife, Trina, and two children, Zach and Shae.

Patrick Gargano has been a Cisco Networking Academy Instructor since 2000. He currently heads the Networking Academy program and teaches CCNA/CCNP-level courses at Coll�ge La Cit� in Ottawa, Canada, where he has successfully introduced mastery-based learning and gamification into his teaching. In 2013 and 2014, Patrick led the Cisco Networking Academy student “Dream Team,” which deployed the wired and wireless networks for attendees of the Cisco Live conferences in the United States. In 2014, Coll�ge La Cit� awarded him the prize for innovation and excellence in teaching. Hans Roth is an instructor in the Electrical Engineering Technology department at Red River College in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada. Since this portable command guide maps to the CCNP 300 Series it should have DMVPN and GRE commands. Provide electronic updates including the aforementioned, and this is a five star publication!

CCNP Routing and Switching - Portable Command Guide

I like Portable guides, I like that they are small and shove a bunch of useful information in them. The book is great; 14 chapters from Basic to Campus security.

Each Chapter is its own subject, so the spanning of multiple chapters you won’t find. Chapters 1 - 7 are Routing based and provide commands from implementing to hardening. There are examples, pictures, and troubleshooting tips.

The book is perfect for me, in that has become part of my reference material. With the "Create Your Own Journal Here" section, I have written notes pertaining to my networks and I like that. Yes I am a tech guy, but I still use my mechanical pencil.

Adopted as the model for hundreds of Mormon settlements in the West, Smith’s urban vision may have left a more lasting imprint on the landscape than that of any other American.

He was controversial from his earliest years. His followers honored him as a man who spoke for God and restored biblical religion. His enemies maligned him as a dangerous religious fanatic, an American Mohammad, and drove the Mormons from every place in which they settled. Smith’s ultimate assassination by an armed mob raises the question of whether American democracy can tolerate visionaries.

The book gives more attention to Joseph Smith’s innovative religious thought than any previous biography. As Bushman writes, “His followers derived their energy and purpose from the religious world he brought into being.” Some of the teachings were controversial, such as property redistribution and plural marriage, but Smith’s revelations also delved into cosmology and the history of God. They spoke of the origins of the human personality and the purpose of life. While thoroughly Christian, Smith radically reconceived the relationship between humans and God. The book evaluates the Mormon prophet’s bold contributions to Christian theology and situates him culturally in the modern world.

Bushman, an emeritus professor at Columbia University and author of Joseph Smith and the Beginnings of Mormonism, greatly expands on that previous work, filling in many details of the founding prophet of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, and carrying the story through to the end of Smith's life. Many continue to view Smith as an enigmatic and controversial figure. Bushman locates him in his historical and cultural context, fleshing out the many nuances of 19th-century American life that produced such a fertile ground for emerging religions. The author, a practicing Mormon, is aware that his book stands in the intersection of faith and scholarship, but does not avoid the problematic aspects of Smith's life and work, such as his practice of polygamy, his early attempts at treasure-seeking and his later political aspirations. In the end, Smith emerges as a genuine American phenomenon, a man driven by inspiration but not unaffected by his cultural context. There were always those who thought Smith a charlatan and a fanatic, and, in 1844, at the age of thirty-eight, he was fatally shot by an angry mob. Beginning with the publication of a new volume of scripture--the Book of Mormon--recounting the resurrected Christ's ministry in ancient America, that revolution eventually produced a dynamic church run by a complex lay ministry and committed to spreading its message worldwide. Though himself a practicing Latter-day Saint (Mormon), Bushman steers clear of hagiography by permitting readers to hear the voices not only of the prophet's loyal followers but also of various skeptics and adversaries. Readers see in particular detail the views of those who rose against Smith during the turbulent final years of his life, when the practice of plural marriage helped stoke a firestorm of religious conflict. Though that storm ended with the prophet's death at the hands of an angry mob, Bushman gives the slain revelator credit for the remarkable durability of the church he left behind. It will halp you live some of the things that Joseph lived.

The title of the book is a quotation Joseph made about himself. The book is devoted to primarily telling his story. In so doing it tells a lot about the early beginnings of the church. Those who would be interested in learning about the early beginnings of the LDS church will find insight from this book. Some of the issues dealt with may need further research and study by the reader to appreciate the whole story.

An outstanding book to get an excellent look at the life of the man Joseph Smith and the tremendous trials he endured thru his short life. I will try to read this book twice, which I rarely do.
